Hi, I’m Lisa and I am one of the Area Managers at Cavity Dental Staff.

I started as an Area Manager with Cavity in January 2012 after nursing for 25 years in Surgery! I have watched the Company grow tremendously over the last 8 years and feel really proud to have played a part in that.

I look after Bristol, Gloucestershire, South Wales, Herefordshire, part of Wiltshire and Berkshire and have over 50 nurses on my team!

My Story

I grew up in Southampton with my family; I met my now husband, who was a part of the Royal Air Force, moved away from Southampton and did a lot of travelling, supporting him in his role. I got to see a lot of different places and make a lot of memories in the process; it was an amazing time.

It was when we returned from a post in Cyprus that I got my first job in a Dental Practice! In a small town in Wiltshire.   Dentistry has since been my chosen career.

We are keen golfers, so when I am not working you will find me on the golf course, especially in the summer months.

I am one serious chocoholic! Easter is definitely my favourite holiday of the year – I have the perfect excuse to indulge. Not that I need an excuse  😊

Professional Career

My first job in a dental practice was as a receptionist; I worked with an amazing dentist who talked me into training to be a dental nurse…….. I never looked backed.  I expanded my Dental Nursing qualification and gained some post registration qualifications before becoming a Practice Manager. I am the kind of person that loves to develop my skills and so I reached the point of needing a new challenge to sink my teeth in to, which is where Cavity come in.

I met with Sharon, my now boss, and she told me about how she had started Cavity Dental Staff Agency.  She seemed the most determined lady, full of passion and ideas for the business, which I was keen to be a part off. I am so glad I took on the challenge. We now cover the whole of the UK and Wales and I manage a team of over 50 Dental Nurses.

A Day in the Life of an Area Manager

Since the covid pandemic my role has changed.  We now base most of our work from home.  My day starts at 0630am, I am up answering the phones to clients needing cover that day, as well as supporting my team as they make their way to work.  Once everyone has arrived safely at their assigned practice, I continue my day with various online meetings, contacting and liaising with clients, and my team of nurses,  dealing with queries, diary management, recruiting and marketing.

I am also an accredited fit tester and trainer and run courses on fit testing, as well as visiting clients from various industries to fit test anyone who is in need of respiratory protection.

I think my colleagues would say I am a bit of a control freak, which I think is spot on lol
