Samaritan's 24/7 – A Powerful Message
The campaign peaks on 24th July (24/7) – Samaritans Awareness Day – which serves as a reminder that support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No matter what you're going through, someone is always ready to listen. You’re never alone.
In 2023, the Samaritans’ efforts were powered by more than 23,000 dedicated volunteers, including:
-
Nearly 20,000 trained listening volunteers responding to calls for help.
-
Over 2,500 individuals supporting more than 200 branches across the UK and Ireland.
-
More than 1,300 trained prison listeners offering vital peer support in custodial settings.
Mental Health Matters – Now More Than Ever
The last few years have presented enormous challenges for many. From the global pandemic to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, people across the UK have experienced heightened levels of emotional, financial, and psychological stress.
Events like these can compound existing personal struggles, leading to overwhelming anxiety, isolation, or feelings of hopelessness. It’s during times like these that simply being able to talk to someone can make a life-changing difference.
Cavity Dental Staff: Our Commitment to Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Cavity Dental Staff, we understand how vital mental health support is. That’s why, since launching our Health & Wellbeing Platform in 2019, we’ve made significant investments to build a supportive, proactive, and compassionate culture across our team.
Support You Can Count On – Internally and Externally
We’re proud to offer a range of mental health resources and support systems, including:
-
Five fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders, trained to offer a listening ear and practical support.
-
Access to Health Assured, a confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, available to all employed dental nurses and administrative staff.
-
A dedicated Health & Wellbeing Slack channel – a safe digital space to share advice, ask questions, or just check in.
-
Flexible communication options for those who may not want to talk on the phone, including Slack messages, texts, emails, scheduled video or phone calls via Calendly.
We recognise that reaching out isn’t always easy. Talking about how you feel can feel daunting – especially when you're struggling to even find the words. That’s why we've created a safe and accessible environment to encourage open conversations, in whatever format suits the individual best.
Introducing the Cavity Health & Wellbeing Support Hub
To make accessing help even easier, we’ve built the Cavity Health & Wellbeing Support Hub – an online archive of resources and guidance, tailored to the unique challenges our staff and wider community may face.

Whether you’re looking for support for yourself or someone you know, the Hub offers an easy-to-navigate experience, covering a wide range of topics from emotional wellbeing to financial advice, stress management, and more.
We’re Here to Listen – Join the Samaritan's Conversation
Throughout July and beyond, we’re proud to support the “Talk to Us” campaign, championing the importance of checking in, being kind, and offering a non-judgemental space to talk.
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember: you’re not alone. Whether it’s through a quick message, a phone call, or a one-to-one chat, support is just a conversation away.
Let’s keep talking. Let’s support each other. Let’s be there – 24/7.
