A Guide to Locuming with Cavity

2 min read

Locum work can seem daunting, with the thought of travelling to different practices and working with new teams. But in fact, for many dental hygienists, therapists and dentists, it can be far more rewarding and enjoyable than you might realise.

Working as a locum gives you the freedom to choose when and where you work, the chance to build your experience across a range of practices, and the opportunity to meet and network with other dental professionals in your area, all without the long term commitment of a permanent role.

In this guide for hygienists and dentists, we explain the main benefits of locum work and how simple it is to get started with Cavity, from your first phone call to receiving locum requests in your area.

    Why Locum with Cavity?

With Cavity Dental Staff Ltd, becoming a locum could not be simpler. There are just three steps:

    Step What happens
    1. A quick phone chat One of our hygiene and dentist team will call you to give you a quick overview of the process.
    2. Send your compliance paperwork Gather and send in your mandatory compliance paperwork, so we know you’re ready to work. This includes your GDC certificate, indemnity insurance, Hep B, DBS and BLS.
    3. A short Zoom call Once your paperwork is in place, we’ll have a quick 15 to 20 minute Zoom call to say hello, recap the process and take any last details. After that, you’re on our books and will start receiving locum requests in your area.

    What you can expect

    • You accept only the jobs you wish to work.
    • You set your own hourly rate (hygiene/therapy) and day rate (dentist).
    • There is no sign-up fee and we do not take a percentage of your invoiced rate. It’s completely free to be on our books.
    • You have a dedicated team here at Cavity who you can contact by email, phone or text.
