Hi, I’m Nicola and I am one of the Area Managers at Cavity Dental Staff .
I started working for Cavity in September 2006!!! I came on board as a Locum Dental Nurse 2 months after Cavity was established, having worked with Sharon previously in a Dental Practice. Of course, at that point, the Company was a fraction of the size. It’s quite incredible just how far we have come in the last 13 years.
I look after part of Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Middlesex, London, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. So, I have a massive patch to cover and have over 50 nurses on my team that I am looking after daily as well!
I grew up in Reading with my Mum, Dad and brother and have been here my whole life; I did venture out to Bracknell when I got my first house but have since moved back to Reading taking on a renovation project which is now complete and looking lovely.
My spare time consists of wedding planning! My partner finally popped the question to me back in January 2018 after 12? Years and we are due to get married in August. Everything is full on currently with confirming supplier but I’m really looking forward to the wedding and honeymoon.
I have been a Dental Nurse since 2003 (I know, I don’t look old enough), it was actually my mum that got me into Dentistry. I was bumming around (not) attending college and my Mum got fed up of me loitering about the house. There was an advert for a Trainee Dental Nurse at our local Dental Practice and so she suggested I apply. Unbeknown to me she had already spoken to them about the possibility of taking on a wayward 16 year old! Low and behold they gave me the opportunity… I think it was my making really, I learn best ‘hands on’ and what more hands-on job is there than Dentistry?!
I started working with Sharon as a Locum Dental Nurse in 2006 and was quite happy with the diverse nature of locuming. I got to see so many different places and practices and meet lots of new people, learning a lot of skills along the way. I went to Hospitals, Prisons, Community clinics we took part in mouth guard projects for schools. I have experienced so much being a locum. Sharon did talk to me about becoming an Area Manager and at first, I was dubious, but I am so glad I took the plunge. As both Lizzy and Lisa have said, there is no typical day in the life of an Area Manager. I get to travel about and see so many different parts of the country, meeting so many Dental Care Professionals in the process.
Looking for locum work? Nicola can help!
Nicola is looking to recruit the best Dental Nurses and expand her team and would love to have a chat and discuss it with you.
