Last Friday Nicola celebrated her 8th year here at Cavity! Nicola has been an integral part of the Cavity team since the very beginning, she was one of Cavity’s first Dental Nurses (Cavity fairies). She is an amazing Dental Nurse who clients love and before she joined the management team she was always getting daily requests. So, much to practices dismay in March 2013 Nicola decided to join the management team looking after the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex areas.
So we are celebrating 8 years of Nicola at Cavity and I hope you all enjoy pictures of Nicola throughout the years of which she will be most embarrassed about! See what she has to say below:
Hello I’m Nicola and I’ve been with Cavity for 8 whole fun filled years! It all started in 2006 when Cavity first started, I was a newly qualified Dental Nurse and had been in practice for 2 years when I got to the stage of needing a change of scenery.
I’d known Cavity’s company director Sharon from practice where we worked together and knew she was setting up Cavity and when she discovered I was looking for something more she offered me a job as a Cavity fairy…..the rest is history!
I nursed full time for Cavity for 6 years before progressing into an Area Manager. I thought I knew everything about dental nursing after I left my practice. But, as it turns out I knew hardly anything! I have gained so much knowledge and experience through the variety of locum nursing at hundreds of practices with hundreds of dentists and specialists over the years, not only in general practice but in community/hospitals/prisons the lot. I can honestly say I have loved every minute! The change of scenery, the change of faces and getting to know people is fantastic and I have not looked back.
Moving from being a Dental Nurse to becoming an Area Manager was a big step for me. Sharon always let me know when she was looking to recruit a new manager and I always put it off until I eventually made the jump. Now I love having my own team of Dental Nurses to manage and pass on my wisdom.
What is the best part of your job?
Traveling out and about, meeting and getting to know a wide variety of characters- trust me there’s a lot in dentistry!
What do you enjoy the least about your job?
RCT! It’s never been a favourite of mine, I’d rather a good juicy surgical!
Where did you go on your last holiday?
Spain, our yearly trip out to my parents place, where we just relax….
What is your favourite food?
Ummm….anything that’s bad for you!
More importantly….what is your favourite drink?
Ooh that’s a toss up between archers and lemonade or a nice cold strawberry & lime Rekorderlig.
What could you not live without?
My phone, it’s sad but my life is on that thing!
What are your hobbies?
I’m really boring and don’t really have any, but I enjoy eating and going out with friends. I’m also renovating my house at the moment which is taking up most of our spare time but generally I just lounge about and catch up with the telly.
What is your favourite film?
Don’t judge me… but the twilight films.
Favourite TV show?
Ahh too many to choose from! Emmerdale is a must nightly, along with home and away, and I do like my weekly new girl.
How would your colleagues describe you?
Ohh that’s tough.. I just asked one of them and she just laughed…don’t know if that’s good or bad! Probably chatty because I do love a good gossip. Also feisty (my excuse is I’m short and that often comes with ‘short person syndrome’ ) but that comes with passion for what I do. I hope they would also say that I’m a hard worker and a team player as even though we’re predominantly a female workforce we all get on so well and have a laugh here and that’s what I love.
Here is what boss lady Sharon has to say about Nicola:
Well what can I say about Nicola…she is not only one of my first Dental Nurses but she is also one of my favorites. Since Nicola started with me back in 2006 she has been like a third child who I have trained and nurtured. I truly believe that Nicola’s lovely personality and excellent skills is a contributing factor to the success of Cavity.
We are all looking forward to what the next 8 years has install for us all!
